BIO
Well known Dutch stylist Alex van der Steen was born in Amsterdam. In 1991, Alex graduated from the HKU University of the Arts. After his graduation, he started working as a designer for Lee and Wrangler in Brussels, Belgium. When working in Brussels for several years, he decided to continue his career doing styling for photo shoots. Soon after this decision, Alex became the fashion director for the famous men’s magazine Squeeze, which was a big success for many years. After working for 15 years in the European market, Alex moved to New York City to expand his horizon.
Alex’s signature can be described as street-conscious meets sophistication and polished minimalistic luxury. He knows like no other how to build outfits in layers. His way of styling is remarkably unique. Alex has always been an advocate for diversity and equality, and this reflects in his work. The last couple of years, he has focussed himself on art-direction and photography next to styling. He loves challenges and new, creative ways to show a wide spectrum of skills.
