BIO

Well known Dutch stylist Alex van der Steen was born in Amsterdam. In 1991 Alex graduated from the HKU University of the Arts. After his graduation he started working as a designer for Lee and Wrangler in Brussels, Belgium.

When working in Brussels for several years, he decided to continue his career doing styling for photoshoots. Soon after this decision Alex ended up being the fashion director for famous mens’ magazine Squeeze, which was a big succes for many years. Since then Alex has been styling for the likes of Elle, Vogue, Marie-Claire, Glamour, Red, JFK, Dutch, Ilovefake Magazine, Avantgarde, LINDA, L’Officiel, Harper’s Bazaar, Grazia and Glamcult.

After working for 15 years in the European market, Alex moved to New York City to expand his horizon. He started working for international titles like: Vestal magazine, Metal magazine, Bullett magazine, Surface magazine, Essential Homme, August man, Vibe, The Ones to Watch (models.com), Schon, Elle Mexico, Fault Magazine, Contributor magazine, L’Officiel Homme, Rollacoaster, Prestage, GQMexico, Wonderland, Vogue UA, Off Black Magazine, V-man, Latest Magazine, amongst many others.

Alex’s signature can be described as street conscious meets sophistication and polished minimalistic luxury. He knows like no other how to build outfits in layers. His way of styling is remarkable unique. Alex always has been an advocate for diversity and equality and this reflects in his work.

The last couple of years he has focussed himself on art-direction and photography next to styling. He loves challenges and new creative ways to show a wide spectrum of skills.
